How to compare factory quotes (and what FOB really includes)
To compare factory quotes, convert each one to the same terms: same incoterm, same spec, same quantity and same payment terms. Only then does a lower unit price mean a better deal.
Check the incoterm first
FOB means the seller delivers goods on board at the port of shipment, and costs after that are the buyer's. A quote that includes freight or insurance is not directly comparable to an FOB quote.
Ask each factory to state the incoterm and the named port.
Compare more than unit price
Look at MOQ, lead time, sample cost, payment terms, and what happens on a late or rejected order.
A slightly higher price with firm dates and clear quality terms often costs less than a low quote that slips.
Negotiate on a record
Keep the thread of offers, counter-offers and agreed changes in one place. ZUSHI keeps quotes and negotiation on the platform so nothing lives only in a chat.
FAQ
Is the lowest quote the best?
Not by itself. Compare terms, capacity and track record along with price.
What is MOQ?
Minimum order quantity, the smallest run a factory accepts for a style or colour.
